Hello! It’s time for a July update.
Weight Loss
I am still consistently losing weight. Though it has significantly slowed down compared to when I first started in June. The slow grind is more sustainable so I don’t mind it. And I have hit sub 80kg on some days so I’m happy where I am. For those who like data the graph below shows my weight for the month of July.
Update on Time Tracking
At this time I have tracked my time for a month and I’m feeling like falling off the wagon. Besides the benefit of helping me focus on the task at hand, there’s not much benefit for me to track certain tasks such as eating and social time. I don’t know how I will use that data. So I’ve been thinking to only track things that I care about.
Though it was helpful in helping figure out how long my commute was. How long it takes for me to mow my lawn and the likes.
I will continue to track my devotional time as one of my goals is to increase the time I spend in prayer, so that timer still has some benefit. But in a nutshell I will be rethinking how I’m tracking my time and how to make it more sustainable and useful for me.
YouTube Arc
Started my YouTube arc. You can see my video below. Only one video so far but I’m working on the second one.
Anime I’m watching this season
There are some good anime this season. Here are the ones that I’m watching:
- Ruri Rocks
- Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity
- The Summer Hikaru Died
Some Cool Things That I Found
Some cool things I found this month on the internet.
- Strudel
- This is the coolest thing I learned about this month. If you like music and coding, you are in for a treat. With Strudel you are able to make music with JavaScript. DJs are using this for live performances and people have been able to make complete songs with it.
- Google Gemini
- For the longest time I’ve been trying to digitize my handwritten journals into text. But because I write with cursive in my journals, no OCR tools are able to convert them to text. And manually converting them would take forever (I have journal entries from 2016). Until I found out that Gemini can actually take in my journals and process the cursive handwriting. And the results are actually really impressive. This probably cut down something that would take me 2 months to less than an hour.
- Amazing Grace by Kings Kaleidoscope
- My favorite artist released a cover of Amazing Grace a day after my Church did a Sunday school on John Newton. Talk about perfect timing.
God’s Timing
Speaking of impeccable timing. I have a story to tell. Due to circumstances, I had to drive my dad home one Sunday. I thought to myself, this would be a great time to tell my dad about my plan to do mission in Japan. It turns out he is okay with it, as long as I settle down (get married). Then he started lecturing me about getting married early. While he’s lecturing me my mom called and said that there’s something important she needs to tell me when we get back home. It turns out my mom’s been trying to matchmake me on WeChat. And she wants to tell me there was this girl recommended to me by her friend. I was speechless and just went back to my room wondering what is God trying to tell me.
Food
- Oklahoma Burgers
- This place was recommended to me by a coworker. The burger has an appealing warmth to it, so the cheese was thoroughly melted. The onions were also well caramelized. Overall, decent burgers for a good price.
- Happy Lamb Hotpot on Scarborough
- There is a summer lunch special going on, $23 for AYCE hotpot (with tax and tip is about $28). It’s got drinks, meat, and plenty of ingredients for the hot pot. For the price there really isn’t anything that can beat it.
